Got Questions?
We're Here to Help
Review these Frequently Asked Questions, and reach out with your personal requests!
This program is designed for a rising high school senior preparing to enter their college audition season.
If this isn't you, take a look at the many programs offered for high schoolers of all ages by our sister company, Southeastern Summer Theatre Institute. You can take part in full professional musicals, or take on a classroom based experience similar to the College Audition Edge at SSTI Essentials.
Students entering this program should bring two monologue options, two 32 bar cuts that you love (plus your book), and jazz shoes that you'd wear to a musical theatre dance class. Students should anticipate receiving new repertoire during the course of the week, and recommendations of repertoire that should be cut/changed. That's why you're here!
Daily activity will occur within one floor of a midtown Manhattan rehearsal studio complex. This will be the very building you'll spend much of your post-college life inside, as you begin your NYC auditioning journey. Get familiar with it now!
Movement to/from the nearby hotel will be guided by a member of the College Audition Edge Team, as well as all trips to the theatre and for meal breaks.
We have secured a block of rooms at a four star hotel property on the same block as the rehearsal studios. For security, only registered families will get this information. Our program is designed to present an array of housing options. Families seeking to attend with a student, and wanting to be in our hotel, should select the 'Single Bed' hotel option. This is the same for parents seeking to independently send their child, but in a private room. All rooms will have double queen beds.
Students looking to share a room with a roommate assigned by our team or stay a friend that's jointly attending should select the double room option during registration on GetAccepted. Also during that registration process on GetAcceptd, you will have the opportunity to specify a roommate.
All independent student rooms will be on a hallway chaperoned by College Audition Edge staff, in case of an emergency.
In short, EITHER! You've got options!
We have a staff in place to make sure that independent students are supervised from airport pickup (on a specific schedule) to airport dropoff, and all times in-between. There will be a level of personal accountability akin to what they'll soon find in college. Examples include placing meal orders on schedule, waking up on time, and being conscious and independently responsible for being on a group schedule.
For parents wishing to attend, you can do your own thing in the city or join us for our add-on parent classes experiences throughout the week.
Being in the heart of midtown provides an array of dietary accommodations. Rather than choosing a singular group meal that might not meet the needs and desires of our student body, we’ll offer 2-3 restaurants daily on the call sheet. Students will be given the QR code for the app and specific daily time blocks to place their desired pickup orders. While the students are in class, staff will pickup the meals and have them hot and ready for our lunch and dinner breaks.
Sample offerings might be: Sweetgreen, Chipotle, Fresh&Co, Five Guys, Just Salad, Schnippers, Smashburger.
Meals are not included in the tuition for The College Audition Edge. Student should anticipate a daily meal budget of $45-50.
Given the many fixed costs associated with hosting a program in NYC (hotels, meals, theater tickets, travel), there are no scholarships or sponsorships available for The College Audition Edge. Students who meet the qualifications for traditional need-based aid, should look to our sister programs at the Southeastern Summer Theatre Institute, where a limited number of need-based sponsorships are offered each summer.
